Sound memories

of treasures sought along the waters edge

wishing stones and shells

whatever catches eyes a prize

here on a record day

with hand in mine I’ve walked this way

up the beach and back to see a change each day

shoreline treasures fill the moment

but those hands are best in memory

Pictured here
a fish I caught
in my imagination

just before it darts off

in the words of many fishermen’s
pedantic fish school teachings

for it’s not for reel
I angle for
but the allure of wanted prize

before it disappears
before your eyes

"Tranquil Harbor"

Proud and arrogant
a self centered waif
has found a home
amongst a stoic crowd

for here this stranger
stands alone unlike the others

suspended
floating above the world below
it rules the day
a magic act it seems has come
to captivate this tranquil harbor
but this will pass just like the others

who come along

in seasons fall

and disappear without applause

"Blue Water Dance"

The time is right for
pulsing light to take a partnered step
with moving waves
hand and arm they glide return repeat

blue water dance

right in time

for partners chance

to show their thoughtful rhythm

for soon the lighted noon

will prove its moves and light another stage

and leave a partner wanting

"On Stable Ground"

Black stone and granite intersect
on stable ground

grays and muted hues dot this spotted menagerie
here transient pieces come and go

deposits from on high
carried by the wind or merely fall
from branches neigh

rest with others brought and tumbled
in high-water season

none will leave their mark on this
black and white foundation

but balance now
a scene as seen
of fleeting memory

"Treasure at Mussel Beach"

Drift wood pieces clutter
to some
delight a would be hunter

sea glass and jade a fine parade
amongst the rocks so soon to
grace a memories garden

and mussel shells
some whole some halved and broken
chards

all fine fortunes found

we were there and heres some proof

none for all yet some for one

for each a home neath separate roofs

and for each a memory hold

Sticks and Stones"

Sticks and stones will break my bones
but names will never hurt me

for thoughts like these
will surely please

as pictures paint a thousand words
incongruous
sarcastic
succinct

and here a pictue brought to view
from thoughts
like this I know

"And Now Light Dances"

Herald soft the sky
on surface winding
through the rocks in quiet bed
where color reigns
and passion falls in symbols
colored orange and red

To lay by sights and textures felt through
tactile memory

A change of scene
A scene of change

Now sensual, soft, wet and warmed by sun
where cool shadows rule the day in
seasons cycle

Imagine wading in the sun
and near the shore

a spot lit scene
the scenic route

a blade
a corner

a place we’ve seen
imagined
what wrought from memory
and here before our eyes

Where fall has left

it leaves hehind

the proof of warmth and green and arid season

now shelter high has bid goodbye

to fly before the wind

so here the proof of spring
and autumns fling

these leaves get left behind
